With the continuous development of pharmaceutical industry and the continuous optimization of upstream processes, downstream purification is facing the pressure of increasing protein impurity content and sudden increase of protein expression. MaXtar® S HC Pro is a strong cation exchange resin. As an improved version of MaXtar® S HC, it also features high capacity and high resolution, but MaXtar® S HC Pro has a wider working range and can provide customers with more process operation space.

Summary: DoE results show that MaXtar® S HC Pro resin still has a maximum of about 100 mg/mL 10% DBC under the loading condition containing 100 mM NaCl. When loading with saline solution, in order to obtain a higher capacity, the loading pH value can be appropriately reduced.
MaXtar® S HC Pro resin, with a particle size of 50μm, is mostly used in polishing steps. It has good separation ability whether it is used in bind-elute or flow-through mode, and can effectively reduce low molecular impurities and high molecular impurities from products.

Summary: The results show that when MaXtar® S HC Pro uses flow-through mode under the condition of 90g/L of flow-through protein, the purity of flow-through solution reaches 99.39%, and the initial low molecular impurities decreases from 19.623% to 0.1%, and almost all of them are removed. This case shows MaXtar® S HC Pro's excellent impurity removal capability.
MaXtar® S HC Pro’s matrix is MaXtar, an improved agarose-based matrix, which has the characteristics of high rigidity and low back pressure, and has larger scale-up space in industrial scale-up. MaXtar® S HC Pro has been verified the robustness of scaling up in practice.

Summary: The figure above shows that in the whole process of industrial production, the whole process pressure of MaXtar® S HC Pro is ≤ 1. 2 bar, indicating that the back pressure of the resin is small and it has robust scale-up performance.
