In the field of cell culture, particularly in key processes for immune cell therapies such as CAR-T and NK cell production, the performance of gas permeable cell culture bags directly affects whether cells can achieve healthy and efficient expansion.
CytoLinX® Single-use Breathable Cell Bag developed by BioLink is designed specifically to address this critical need.
As a new member of BioLink CytoLinX® family of cell culture bags, CytoLinX® Single-use Breathable Cell Bag features an ultra-low-density PE high-permeability film. Its gas transmission rate and other key performance parameters are benchmarked against leading international standards, providing a new and reliable option for the cell therapy industry.

During the rapid expansion phase, cellular oxygen consumption increases sharply, and traditional culture vessels often become a limiting bottleneck. The core breakthrough of the CytoLinX® Single-use Breathable Cell Bag lies in its use of a proprietary ultra low density polyethylene (PE) high permeability film.
Outstanding Gas Exchange Capability
The film provides an oxygen transmission rate of up to 4000 cm³/(m²·24h·0.1MPa), and a carbon dioxide transmission rate of 14000 cm³/(m²·24h·0.1MPa). These properties ensure that the gas environment inside the culture bag remains in continuous dynamic balance, supplying sufficient oxygen for high density cell culture and efficiently removing metabolic waste gases. This supports healthy and robust cell expansion at its source.
Theoretical parameters require practical validation. We conducted parallel cell expansion comparison tests using CytoLinX® cell culture bags made with the same film from the same product series and comparable products from an international brand.
Figure 2. Comparison of NK Cell Culture Test Results
Under the same inoculation density of 1.01×10⁶ cells/mL and identical culture conditions, by day 6 the final cell density in CytoLinX® series cell culture bags reached 3.9×10⁶ cells/mL, with cell viability consistently maintained above 95 %.
The measured data demonstrate that CytoLinX® series cell culture bags, with their excellent gas permeability, create a superior microenvironment for cell growth. As a result, they achieve benchmark level performance in the key indicator of cell expansion efficiency while maintaining outstanding cell viability.
Beyond the core membrane material, the CytoLinX® series cell culture bags are thoughtfully engineered to meet the practical needs of cell therapy manufacturing.
• Closed system and operational convenience: The bag adopts a fully enclosed tubing system design, effectively preventing contamination. Equipped with a needle-free sampling valve and reserved filling/sampling lines, it enables medium supplementation, factor addition, and sterile sampling without the need to replace the bag. This greatly simplifies operation and complies with GMP production standards.
• Real time monitoring and enhanced safety: The highly transparent bag allows direct microscopic observation of cell morphology and density, reducing the contamination risk associated with frequent opening for sampling. All products are gamma sterilized to ensure reliable sterility.
• Flexible size options: Available in two specifications: 300 mL (suitable for process development and small-scale testing) and 1 L (supporting scale-up production). The product precisely meets the needs from R&D through manufacturing, while also supporting customization for larger volumes.
